In honor of almost-Father's-Day, this week’s show is about Fathers and sons. Chris is talking politics with his dad, Major Robert Odell Owens, who served in the US House of Representatives from 1982- January 2007, among his achievements -- passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

And, we’ll have a lively roundtable discussion between Chris, Congressman Owens and Rep. Maxine Waters (CA-35th District). On the table: what’s ahead for the Dems, including the stakes for VP and how Waters feels having initially backed Hillary Clinton, only to have endorsed Obama this past Tuesday.

I agree with your father

Great program ! I enjoyed the insight that you and your father brought to the discussion of the 'dream ticket' in particular.

I have always felt that Hillary is a very special leader who has often been criticized for her political calculus which argueable might be viewed as a real asset in another candidate (translation, male candidiate).

I think Barack is too far into the game to play it 'safe.' He won the nomination in a bold unconventional way against a formidable opponent. Both became much better candidates through the process. Barack must continue to be bold which I think includes choosing Hillary as his running mate.

Of course synergy is a challenge, but if the Obama's and the Clinton's can check their ego's at the door it would be possible to have one of the most potent political teams in history. Pulling Richardson into the the inner circle with a focus on truly empowering hispanic voters would be a big plus. Crafting a potent role for John Edwards seals the deal. Of course there are many other pieces to this 'dream force,' but putting Hillary in the key spot raises many interesting and viable permutations of teams that can not only win the votes, but keep people energized and galvanized to tackle the hard tasks facing the country.

If Obama can accept a vice-president, who by necessity, must be see and heard then Hillary can continue her historic development as the female voice in politics.

It seems like the transformation politics in the U. S. is coming at a time when there is a need for transformation. Coincidence?
