The Republican way

Watching McCain give two interviews last night.

The first one, "We have got to end these negative ads and talk about the economy".

The second one, "Senator Obama has to come clean about his close "connections" with domestic terrorist Bill Ayers and what those connections mean for the country".

Then, there was the terrific idea by Presidential nominee Obama concerning companies that have shipped jobs overseas about giving tax credits when they bring the job back. Companies want to send labor to China where they don't have to pay health insurance and 401 plus half the labor cost. They believe they can sell the products here. The problem is, if the jobs are gone, there is no way to make money. Ship all the jobs overseas and double duh, who has money to buy? Especially if you are living out of your car. If you have a car.

Sending all labor intensive jobs overseas is an absolutley retarded way to make money. Destroy your base and home for a couple of bucks. Yea, good idea.

Teflon Obama

While prepping for my show this morning, I started to make a list of the types of things that would have knocked any other candidate for office out of the running. I included associations of Barrack Obama’s, as well as gaffes and mistakes he’s made.

I had to stop after 25 minutes because I just had to move on to prepping the rest of the show, but I could have continued on much longer. Folks, it’s amazing how many passes Obama has received. I know it’s an overused charge by talk show hosts, but any other candidate really would have been disqualified immediately, or mocked until their candidacy was a joke, if they had even a single one of these associations or mistakes.

I didn’t want this post to be gargantuan, so I give just the essentials. But these are all easily researched.

Associations:

Bill Ayers. What other politician wouldn’t even have to answer questions about his long and close association with a known and unrepentant terrorist?

Related to Ayers: This week’s revelation that Obama was a member of the radical ‘New Party’ in the 90s. This is a political party formed by socialists to push the country closer to socialism. Obama was a member and got their endorsement when he ran for the Illinois State Senate.

Jeremiah Wright. Imagine if John McCain were a member of a mainstream church that was in the least bit controversial. Imagine if he had just gone a few times to see Jerry Falwell preach. But Obama sits in a radical Afro-centric church for twenty years…week in and week out...and listens to all sorts of racist, vile, anti-American, anti-whitey, anti-Jew crap, and maintains a very close personal association with this pastor. He gives one hollow speech, kicks Wright under the bus,and so much for that. No questions can ever be asked…again…

Father Michael Flager: some white priest trying to ingratiate himself to the black community. A modern day reverse step-and-fetch it who spreads the same type of nonsense Wright does.

Obama’s not a Muslim. ….but he does have a number of Muslim associations that haven’t been investigated, including being friendly with Louis Farrakhan, who is another anti-America, anti-white, anti-Jew racist.

Tony Rezko…we all know his story.

Obama’s also got a fat poker buddy who is a county exec in Illinois who’s under federal investigation.

Obama’s close ties to Acorn, and the revelation this week that his campaign paid acorn 800-thousand dollars to register voters and then hid that expense on their election reports.

Obama’s got close ties to Fannie Mae, including Franklin Raines, who skimmed millions from Fannie while running it into the ground, and now advises Obama on ‘housing matters.’

Gaffes: Some call Biden a walking gaffe machine. Obama’s actually worse

He said he’d visited 57 states, with more to go. This guy is running for president and he doesn’t know how many states there are? Isn’t that worse than not knowing how to spell potato?

Joe Biden was called out for plagiarism. Well, Obama stole an entire speech from a black governor, Duval Patrick, and gave it as his own.

Obama often doesn’t know where he is: he’s called Sioux City Sioux Falls. He’s called Brownsville, Texas Brownville.
He’s called Rapid Falls Grand Rapids. He’s called Sunrise, Florida Sunshine, Florida..

Obama called a woman ‘sweetie’ while at an event in New Hampshire. That ‘offense’ alone would have ruined any republican politician.

Obama claimed that tornados in Kansas had killed ten-thousand people. Actual death toll: twelve people.

Obama said his parents got together as a result of the march on Selma. He was born in 1961. The march on Selma was in 1965.

Obama said Iran is a small country, so it doesn’t pose a serious threat to us.

Obama said he’d meet, without precondition, with the world’s dictators and thugs.

Obama said Arabic translators that were in Iraq were needed in Afghanistan. They don’t speak Arabic in Afghanistan..

Obama called Matt Lauer ’Tim’ three times in an interview, even after Lauer corrected him and said, I’m Matt….

Obama said he didn’t want to see his daughters punished with a baby.

Obama asked a crowd in Iowa…Iowa…if they’d seen the price of arugula lately.

And this is where I had to stop.......

CAN YOU SAY TEFLON MCCAIN?

And while we are at it, let’s take a look at “Teflon” McCain, shall we???

----Personal:

McCain committed adultery for years before divorcing his disfigured wife who was severely injured in a car accident to marry a wealthy heiress twenty years his junior that he married less than a month after his divorce became final.

McCain has never held a job in his life that he didn’t get through pulled strings whether it was family connections (his Admiral father) or family connections (his rich wife).

McCain’s wife made him sign a prenup because she doesn’t trust him either.

McCain has been accused in numerous affairs, the most recent being Vicki Iseman, which also led to another Senate scandal

McCain talks about Rev. Wright, a former Marine who served six years and received an honorable discharge, but never mentions the Rev. Hagee or McCain’s own personal “spiritual advisor”, Rod Parsley, two individuals nuttier than a fruitcake who look forward to WWIII.

----Military:

McCain was a party monster who graduated 5th from the bottom out of 899 Cadets from the Naval Academy his father pulled strings to get him in to.

McCain crashed several multi million dollar jets.

McCain was somehow involved in a fire aboard an aircraft carrier that cost the lives of over 160 men. No formal report was ever released by the Navy. What we do know is that McCain was the ONLY crewmember that was not severely injured who was airlifted from the burning carrier. McCain was the only crewman on deck who was NOT decorated for valor. McCain has NEVER visited the Forestall yearly memorial claiming every single year he was “busy”. No crewmembers from the Forestall supported McCain at the Republican convention.

McCain himself said he was shot down in Vietnam because he was flying too low against orders.

----Senate scandals – these are so famous everyone already knows all about them:

McCain’s ties to retired Army Maj. Gen. John Singlaub, who was the head of the U.S. chapter of the World Anti-Communist League, an international organization linked to former Nazi collaborators and ultra-right-wing death squads in Central America.

McCain's sided with right-wing domestic terrorists and voted against tough new legislation cracking down on a wave of anti-choice domestic terrorism targeting women who visited abortion clinics, their doctors, and clinic staff in the early 90’s.

Pelosie on Mahoney: "I just learned today about the serious allegations concerning Congressman Tim Mahoney. These charges must be immediately and thoroughly investigated by the House Ethics Committee."

You decide.

Child molesting is a Republican thing

Dem sex scandals involve men and women cheating on their spouses.

I will not defend Foley

But Huffliar, you know Foley did not molest any children. He text messaged inapproriate material to staffers, all of whom were over 18.

For what he did he should have been thrown out of Congress. Lets just get the facts straight.

The fact is that they were alll UNDER 18

that is what the scandal was about, you neocon nitwit. The scandal was about sending the messages to UNDERAGE BOYS. Are your NAZI children going to grow up as stupid as you? Will we taxpayers have to support them too?

None were underage. That's a fact.

.

Bullshit!

He was sending messages to a 16 year old boy. That was proven.

None were underage.

In the District of Colombia, 16 is the legal age. Check it out.

I did some checking, and I

I did some checking, and I couldn't find any reference to what the legal age is for a member of congress to send sexual text messages and harass one of their pages?

Can you please point me to the appropriate statute or case law?

I can't believe you're now trying to redefine "underage" rather than admit you were wrong!!!

Do you really think that one man sending sexual messages to a 16 year old boy who is under his authority (congressman/page relationship) is comparable to a man having "another woman" and cheating on his wife? One is an abuse of power, one is just human frailty.

-- McCain = Four more years of the same --

Just admit you were wrong.

18 is an adult, 16 is a minor.

Shhhh! Listen! Do you hear

Shhhh! Listen! Do you hear that?

It's the crickets! He doesn't have the decency to admit when he was wrong. He has a lot in common with McCain.

.
While I'm not defending Foley's actions, the truth is that in the District of Colombia, the legal age is 16. Below is a link to a chart that gives the legal age listed by state.

http://teenadvice.about.com/library/weekly/qanda/blageofconsentchart.htm

It's ok. Don't feel bad. I accept your apology. Buh Bye.

Wrong again

When did the 16 year old page give consent for Foley to send perverted IMs? It is ilegal to send those kind of messages to a minor. The minor gave no consent.

We await your apology.

What is in your closet?

Your tiny mind is working overtime. The "perverted message" was "send me a picture". Inappropriate, not right, dumb, but hardly, "Hey, lets rub stuff and make it stinky and oily".

In the District of Columbia, 16 is considered an adult.

I don't know what else to say. It's like you're some retarded kid standing on a soapbox yelling "off with his head". Sometimes, those that scream the loudest have the most to hide?

A 16 year old knows what time it is, believe me.

This reminds me of two articles in the Chicago Tribune side by side one day in the paper.

The first Article:

A 17 year old boy was molested by a 22 year old man.

The second Article:

Two 17 year old men rape a college student nurse.

So if they rape, they are men, but if they get et, they are just small children.

If no law was broken, much ado about nothing.

Sorry, I have more to worry about. Go back to sleep.

Still wrong

No where in this country is a 16 year old considered an adult. Are you making some kind of accusation against me? I hope not but I have reported you to the authorities anyway because you sound dangerous. I do back ground checks for a living and I can find just about ANYONE. Ask momofuku. Dont fuck with me EVER, slimeball, and keep your sick sexual perversions to yourself. You have been warned.

By hufflarry2000October 14, 2008 - 10:56pm

You're wrong, huff....again. Florida should have charged him under their state laws though.

Age of Consent Laws

... In general, age of consent is governed by state laws, not federal ones. In Washington D.C., the age of consent – the age at which a young person may legally have sex with an adult – is 16. This is also the minimum age to be a congressional page...

Support the Troops.
End the Occupation.

Did you even read what I wrote?

a 16 year old is not an adult. A 16 year old is a minor. He may be able to have consensual sex but he is not an adult. I am almost sure it is not legal to send perverted messages to a minor on the internet. Pay attention, buzz brain.

By hufflarry2000October 14, 2008 - 11:13pm

Seriously Huff

You are conflating two issues. Try not to be so black and white.

What the hell is wrong with you people?

That pervert dean said 16 was an adult. 16 is not an adult. 16 is a minor. 18 is an adult. It is illegal to sexually harass a minor. How much plainer can I put it? Did the minor give consent to be sexually harassed? NO!

By hufflarry2000October 15, 2008 - 12:23am

Wow

The point is that if a 16 year old and a 40 year want to have sex in a jurisdiction where that is legal then it's legal. It would be legal because the age of consent is given to be 16 or less.

Sexual harassment has nothing to do with age of consent.

No one is arguing Foley's case here.

Try not to be so black and white.

Just to throw a stone in the pool

In most states where 16 (or whatever) is the age of consent, there is also a statute stating that a person cannot be more tha X number of years older than the 16 year old in order to legally have sex with him/her. In other words, there is an age difference limit to prevent adults from predatory behavior.

Ask Sarah if 16 is too young.

I'm not defending Foley, but you have completly lost your mind. We were talking about the age of consent. If the age is 16 in your state, and your 16 year old has sex with someone 80 years old, then it's none of your business. Period.

Makes you wonder what kind of 16 year olds you know.

I live in Chicago. The ones I know are not helpless children easily led down the road to stinky mischief.

Remember, you can go into the military and legally kill at 17.

Sarah Palin's daughter is pregnant at 17. I bet she started "doing it" at 16. Too bad her mother never taught her daughter how to tell "what time it is".

I dont give a fuck what you were talking about.

I am talking about your false statement. You said 16 was an adult. 16 is not an adult. 16 is a minor. 18 is an adult. I dont care if a 16 year old is legal to have sex, he is still a minor.

By hufflarry2000October 15, 2008 - 9:27am

If you define adult as age of consent as legally adult then 16 in DC is adult for that purpose.

It's all about context huff.

And again

A 16 year old is not an adult. The law allows the minor to have consensual sex at 16.

Hey, Sillery.

You can't get much more adult than fucking.

Wrong still

Minors have sex and they are not adults.

Dean, You completely miss

Dean,

You completely miss the point.

1. The page did not CONSENT to the sexual harassment. Therefore your argument about the "age of consent" has no applicability here.
2. Foley was 40+ years old, the page was 16. Even though minors are permitted to have sex, if one partner is a certain number of years older than the other, it's still statutory rape. Not sure what the exact number of years is in this state, but I'm sure the 25+ year age difference is more than enough!
3. This was also homosexual behavior. Not that this bothers me, but considering how your Repubs get on your moral high-horse on other gay / civil rights issues (oppose gay marriage, oppose gay civil rights, oppose equal protection for homosexuals, workplace protection, hate crime laws, etc), I find it very bizarre that you suddenly are so tolerant of Foley's unwanted homosexual advances towards a 16 year old page.
4. What is an aggravating factor here is that Foley was in a position of POWER over the page. His abuse of that power over a subordinate makes it that much worse.

Now will you stop defending the homosexual sexual harassment of a 16 year old page by a 40+ year old Republican congressman?!?!?!?!?!

-- McCain = Four more years of the same --

By dtaylo75October 15, 2008 - 11:11am

I've lost track of the thread. But I think the point is that "sex with a minor" is not an issue because of the age. Harassment has nothing to do with age. You can sexually harass people older than yourself. Huff turned this into an issue. I do not believe dean was trying to argue Foley's case for him. He was just bringing up the point that IF we were discussing sex between Foley and a page of 16 years old, statutory rape would not be the issue here.

But every thing you say is correct. Foley was in a position of power. He was sexually harassing the pages. And this is another example of right wing hypocrisy. Moral majority my ass.

Yuck!

Absolutely correct. I'm not defending Foley. But there is a difference between molesting a child and coercing a young adult.
In DC, when it comes to sex, 16 is not a child, but a young adult.
Also, to be asking a 16 year old for their picture is most definitely inappropriate in my opinion considering the age difference and the chasm in power. That was what Foley did, he asked this kid for his picture.

I would be interested in what "Sillery" thought Foley wrote. I want every "lurid" detail".

I put political videos up at Youtube (you can search deanrd to see them). Some kid was asking my opinion about what to write and related stuff. From the letter, I could tell the kid was young so I wrote back and ask how old he was. He said 16. I told him I didn't feel comfortable carrying on correspondence with a 16 year old, boy or girl. Please don't write me again and if he had a question about why I didn't want to write, ask his parents and they will explain it. The kid never wrote back. Good.
Obviously, Foley doesn't feel that way. Creepy.

But the reason Foley wasn't charged with anything was because the only law he broke was one of "bad taste". It cost him respect and probably any career advancement. Too bad, so sad.

Like I said, much ado about nothing.

You are so full of shit

He asked for alot more than his picture. No matter what you say, a 16 year old is a child, a child that is allowed to have consensual sex. It is definately illegal to sexually harrass anyone on the internet, especially a minor. It is just sick that you think sexual harassment of a minor is "much ado about nothing" I hope your wife or partner gets the same treatment. Fucking asswipe.

By hufflarry2000October 15, 2008 - 1:16pm

Huff you are so out of control. Who the hell said it was not a big deal? Of course it was wrong and a big deal.

And what "exactly" did he ask for?

Your tiny mind is on overdrive and imagining all kinds of "situations".

So far, every time I have ask "what about the correspondence was so upsetting", you couldn't answer. Just these vague, "They were nasty and dirty and too horrible to mention" rants. I suspect you don't even know what Foley asked for. You are just imagining. I suspect your thoughts are rated triple X.

McCian struggles to get donors

Wall Street Donors Resent Being Blamed by McCain
OCTOBER 14, 2008
The WAR STREET JOURNAL
By MONICA LANGLEY

en. John McCain badly needs the cash infusion and momentum from a Tuesday night fund-raiser in New York. But the senator's recent demonizing of Wall Street made it tough to lure contributors, with Wall Street and corporate executives balancing their aggravation with the Republican presidential hopeful against their rising unease about his Democratic opponent.

The McCain campaign hopes to raise $7 million at the event at a midtown Manhattan hotel. For $25,000, guests get a sit-down dinner and a photo with the Arizona lawmaker and his running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. Guests who pay $1,000 can attend a reception.

And though a flurry of pledges in recent days reached the event's fund-raising goal, organizers in recent weeks had struggled to fill the ballroom.

The Republican presidential candidate's "populist stuff sounds good on the campaign trail, but it's caused a lot of trepidation," says John Faso, onetime Republican candidate for New York governor and one of the event organizers. Sen. McCain's relationship with corporate America "has hit a bump in the road," says Mr. Faso, who is an attorney.

Even big business names are advising Sen. McCain to quit looking to assign blame for the economic crisis and instead offer more-detailed solutions. "I told the campaign that McCain must do a better job talking about ways to make corporations -- their executives and directors -- more accountable," activist investor Carl Icahn, a McCain supporter who doesn't plan to attend Tuesday's fund-raiser, said in an interview. "Frankly, Obama is doing a better job, and it's resonating for him."

DoJ: E-mails during Stevens renovations kept secret

DoJ: E-mails during Stevens renovations kept secret
By Manu Raju
Posted: 10/13/08 10:47 PM [ET]

Sen. Ted Stevens’s wife has refused to release a slew of e-mails from the time of an elaborate remodeling project at the couple's Alaska home, the Justice Department alleged in court documents Monday night.

The fight over the e-mails could be critical in the powerful Republican’s corruption trial, since they could give the government ammunition during cross-examination of the senator's wife, Catherine, who is expected to take the witness stand this week.

Since August 2007, the Justice Department has sought thousands of e-mails between the senator's wife and nearly 40 key people involved in the gift-giving scandal that has landed the Alaska Republican in criminal court. Defense attorneys have accused the government of undertaking an eleventh-hour "fishing expedition" since Catherine Stevens's law firm, Mayer Brown LLP, has already provided prosecutors with 26,000 pages of documents. In a weekend motion, the senator's attorneys asked Judge Emmet G. Sullivan to quash subpoenas for the e-mails, which include messages between Stevens and his wife dating back to 1999.
But, according to the government's latest filing, Catherine Stevens has resisted giving the government documents before 2005, even though the criminal charges extend to 1999 and the bulk of the renovations were carried out in 2000 and 2001.

"The only impediment to the production of these documents appears to be defendant, who does not have standing to quash the subpoena since any spousal privilege relating to these electronic documents has been waived," wrote Edward Sullivan, an attorney with the Justice Department.

"Defendant ... seeks to quash for strategic reasons only, knowing full well that the government is entitled to receive and review these documents before Mrs. Stevens (or defendant) testifies," the Justice Department says.

...

How congress has changed

When the republicans were in power there were no ethics investigations. Look at Foley. Now when members of either party deserve an ethics investigation, there is one.

You do not see the party resisting an ethics probe on this current sex scandal. But how long did we have to wait for an ethics probe on Tom Delay's ethics violations? And when one happened and the republican chair of that committee did the right thing and admonished Delay (no real punishment), the chairman was threatened politicly. The republicans acted as though this should have been swept under the bridge with a wink and a nod.

Bush has caused so much pain in the world

Iraqis are being attacked and killed for returning to their homes
Posted on Monday, October 13, 2008
By Corinne Reilly | McClatchy Newspapers

Only a small fraction of the roughly 5 million Iraqis who've fled their neighborhoods in fear since the 2003 U.S.-led invasion have gone back, although returns have picked up since the Iraqi government last month began urging people home.

In Baghdad, where most of the sectarian cleansing has taken place, about 8 percent of the people who moved within the country have gone back to their neighborhoods, according to the International Organization for Migration.

Many Iraqi families have returned to their old homes in peace, but a disturbing trend already is emerging: They're being targeted and attacked, and in some cases killed, for trying to go home. Some have been threatened. Others have found explosives tied to their front doors. Some have had their homes blown up.

The trend, along with an uptick in sectarian and ethnic violence in northern Iraq and growing tensions among rival Shiite factions in the south, is a worrisome development for American political and military leaders who're increasingly eager to declare victory in Iraq so more U.S. troops can be sent to Afghanistan.

Sectarian cleansing has helped to reduce the violence in Iraq to a four-year low, but the small number of returnees who've been targeted so far could be a warning that the violence could return, too.

"There are insurgents still remaining on all sides who don't want the situation to improve," said Bassim al Hassani, a member of the Iraqi parliament's committee on displacement. "So they are targeting a few to send a message to many."

...

In southern Ghazaliyah, an area once dominated by Sunni insurgents and al Qaida in Iraq, Shiite families have come home to makeshift bombs, military officials said. A few returnees' houses have been blown up, and at least one resettler has been killed, a Shiite who was gunned down in a drive-by shooting.

In other neighborhoods, returnees have been kidnapped, said Mazin al Ajaili, the head of the Baghdad city council's displacement committee.

"We are hearing of people coming home and finding letters with a bullet tucked in, or they find messages written on their doors," Ajaili said. "Sometimes one family member is killed so the rest will leave again."

The Brookings Institution began recording threats and attacks against returnees this summer, said Elizabeth Ferris, a senior fellow at the center-left Washington policy group, which uses on-the-ground researchers to track displaced Iraqis.

As the number of people returning home has increased, so has the targeting, Ferris said.

"We're hearing about some pretty direct threats — people getting phone calls or finding notes on their doors telling them they'll be harmed if they don't leave again. . . . But we're just getting individual anecdotes. It's still hard to say how widespread it is."

...

To the people of Iraq. We apologize for the unnecessary pain, suffering and death delivered to your nation by The United States of America under the leadership of the republican party and specifically George Bush.

The Boy Scouts really need to rethink their anti-gay policies. Have you seen those kids? They need all the options they can get if they ever want to get laid.

Support the Troops.
End the Occupation.

You "conservative white males"

tend to have a problem keeping your hands off those boys and young men. So yes, God forbid that you people become scout leaders. Let a normal liberal teach these young men. We will teach them to stay away from you perverts.

Jimbo is into some seriously kinky shit...

You don't have to burn books to destroy a culture. Just get people to stop reading them.

Hillary Clinton: "Close to Zero" Chance I'll Run for President Again
TUESDAY OCTOBER 14, 2008

On Tuesday's "Fox & Friends," she was asked the chances, on a scale of 1 to 10, if she'd run for president again.

"Probably close to zero," said Clinton, who was elected to the Senate in 2000 and re-elected in 2006. "There's an old saying: Bloom where you're planted."

Her chances on being next majority leader in the Senate?

"Oh, probably zero," she said. "I'm not seeking any other position than to be the best senator from New York that I can be."

How about being nominated to the Supreme Court?

"Zero," Clinton said. "I have no interest in doing that."
