Ron Reagan hosts TRMS tonight

From Ron Reagan:

Unfortunately, 'it’s the economy, stupid,' and I’m speaking with Bob Sullivan, who writes the popular blog The Red Tape Chronicles for MSNBC.com.

I'm talking "The week that was” with Newsweek’s Jonathan Alter. His latest book is "Between the Lines: A View Inside American Politics, People, and Culture."

Later in the show, the real differences between Obama and McCain’s healthcare plans with Richard Kirsch, Health Care for America Now’s National Campaign Manager, followed by an advocate for single payer plans, Geri Jenkins, Co-President of the California Nurses Association and National Nurses Organizing Committee.

The Nation’s John Nichols has an update on Trooper gate, including a report to be released today on the story and the McCain campaign’s claims that Sarah Palin was never contacted for testimony.

And Harry Shearer shares the many voices of Sarah Palin and why he thinks you can judge candidates by how they walk (not how they talk).

Sarah Palin...Moron

What's worse - giving a flagrantly wrong answer, or completely dodging the question? Well, when you're running for vice president, neither are acceptable. That's why this week's campaign moron award goes to governor Sarah Palin.

Where We Are Now

Every poll, every
poll of polls, every poll of polls of polls, shows Barack Obama's lead,
particularly in the electoral college, to be sufficient to win the
election. Some by a landslide, some by a smaller margin, but all
concur--if the polls are accurate, Obama is the next President of the United States.
The McCain camp sees the same thing (and presumably has internal polling that
is just as dismal). That accounts for their increasingly ugly and
desperate attacks on character and patriotism. But those attacks do not
seem to be working (although they might have worked were we not in an economic
crisis). So let's talk frankly about some of the things that would alter
the race.

	1. There is one debate left. McCain
could perform brilliantly, and Obama could self-destruct by calling for jihad
	against America
or by announcing that he, at the age of 8, did join the Weather Underground
Organization. I rate this as close to impossible (for the former) and
	impossible (for the latter).

	2. Barack Obama could be
killed. I do not for a moment believe that the McCain camp desires such a
thing. But I cannot believe that they are ignorant of the increasingly
venomous response of some of their angrier, more weak-minded supporters. We
will have to trust the Secret Service on this one. I think that some
attempt on Obama's life is certainly possible, but the likelihood of
success is small. As we have seen, it is a lot harder to kill a President
or Presidential candidate than it looks in the movies.

This week’s Ring of Fire, hosted by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Mike Papantonio:
Saturdays at 3 o’clock Eastern, rebroadcasts Sunday nights at 8 pm Eastern

Pulitzer Prize-winning author Ron Suskind will join us this week to talk about his explosive new book – The Way of The World: A Story of Truth and Hope in an Age of Extremism.

Best-selling author Naomi Klein will be here to tell us how Bush’s economic disaster was actually just a part of his doctrine of “shock and awe.”

Cliff Schecter, author of “The Real McCain,” will be with us to talk about McCain’s involvement in the Keating Five scandal, and why it took so long for the Obama campaign to bring it up.

Louisa Wilcox, senior wildlife advocate for the NRDC, will tell us about their recent victory in protecting North American gray wolves.

And as always, we’ll bring you the stories that the mainstream media didn’t feel like reporting this week.

Find us at http://www.ringoffireradio.com/ and http://goleft.tv/
