LIEBERMAN --go!

David will also be bringing you the latest news from Iraq, and taking your calls, (866 303-2270) so, join us, on The Rachel Maddow Show...

By Passing ShotJuly 2, 2008 - 6:07pmRace for the White House gave me a heart attack.
Okay, you guys didn't actually *say* that Dr. Maddow would be hosting Race for the White House today. However, she's hosted it for the last couple of days, so I thought it was worth tuning in. Sure it might be David Gregory, but a little voice of hope in my heart said it would be Dr. Maddow.
Instead I saw Joe Scarborough's face.
That was unpleasant.
I hate to impose, but how about some kind of "What Dr. Maddow is doing today" box on the site? Something that I can glance at and see what she is and isn't hosting? It would be very helpful.

Also, thank you for the heads-up about Countdown. I wouldn't have thought to record it.
That show is actually a pretty good fit. I don't think Olberman is the funniest guy in the world, but he's a lot better than some of the people that I've seen fill in for him. Dr. Maddow should fit that show pretty well.

By Jason M. BryantJuly 2, 2008 - 6:13pmVery proud
I have been reluctant at times to see Rachel on TV because her personality not always comes through. But last night it was an applause and cheer night here at home! We already deeply admire Rachel's smarts, but we were THRILLED to see her running the TV show like she does her radio show. We are convinced she wrote sher own script. Every time a Rachel-ism was uttered, we broke up in celebration!!!
I know, come to think of it, this sounds kinda pathetic, but when one is fan one is a fan.... :)

By cool_princessieJuly 3, 2008 - 11:30amPerhaps the script writing
Perhaps the script writing was a team effort. She had that one moment on the Angelina Jolie baby story where she said, "I'm not reading that!" then read it anyway and groaned. Good fun.
She has to share Race to the White House with four other people, so I wasn't surprised that Countdown gave her a better chance to be herself.

I tuned into AAR to hear Rachel-- in case she was on or hosting Race tonight... but Joe? I didn't recognize his voice (because I don't listen to him talk very often), but I recognized him immediately when he said something was coming "off its rels." Lionel's impression is dead on.
Anyway, rachel isn't even on the panel! So this just just the Joe Scarborough hour??

I tried to sit through the first hour via TV and had a hard time watching, I bared through the scoff with Mr. Scrabrough when he opted out of a panel that was still in motion, months agao. but today tops the cake... when he uses a the drop of ,,,and another missing girl" when speaking of the election season ramp up sound bite, the "missing girl" statement was un-needed, So to those who are not aware, there is a missing girl; and now she is found Police say missing Vt. 12-year-old's body found
BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) — Vermont State Police say they have found a body believed
to be that of a missing 12-year-old girl. Col. James Baker says Brooke Bennett's body
was found in Randolph shortly before 5 p.m. and her family has been notified.
According to an affidavit, a 14-year-old witness has told investigators that Brooke's uncle brought Brooke to his home to initiate her into a child sex ring the day she disappeared.
She was last seen alive with the uncle, Michael Jacques, at a convenience store a week ago.
Since Mr. Scrabrough miss used this first hour, I will go off topic and post the real story. but besides, how many times can we hear the same opionions without feeling that binality has set in with the cable media and that anyone with half a brain knows to tune off TV and tune into NPR, AAR and NY observer.

By finnperkinsJuly 2, 2008 - 7:06pmKos says NO to IMPEACHMENT hearings - REVENGE
JUSTICE is NOT necessarily REVENGE
Once IMPEACHMENT HEARINGS begin there's SUBPOENA power to get LOTS MORE EVIDENCE that would expose the EVIL DOERS, the actual henchmen.
Do you really want Addington and Cheney's facilitators, running around in the CLANDESTINE WORLD, including those who are doing the EMAIL SHREDDING, to continue to work in govt even under BHO's administration?
Fine you are pissed that Kucinich doesn't have Pelosi level power, but you are shooting at the WRONG TARGET!!!
You think Tillman would be content with YouTube in lieu of official WAR CRIMES documentation in the record?
Before: www.snipr.com/2szfr After: www.snipr.com/2szb4
Tillman started talking about how the war had nothing to do with defending America. Whether he figured out what it was really for is unclear.
He started talking, and then he was killed in combat – according to the official story.
U.S. Army medical examiners were suspicious about the close proximity of the three bullet holes in Pat Tillman's forehead and tried without success to get authorities to investigate whether the former professional football player's death amounted to a crime, according to documents obtained by The Associated Press.
"The medical evidence did not match up with the scenario as described," a doctor who examined Tillman's body after he was killed on the battlefield in Afghanistan in 2004 told investigators.
The doctors — whose names were blacked out — said the bullet holes were so close together that it appeared the Army Ranger was cut down by an M-16 fired from a mere 10 yards or so away.

The evidence didn’t match up with the official story. Why not?
“The Pentagon and the administration of President George W. Bush have been criticized for lying about the circumstances of Tillman's death.”

JUSTICE is NOT necessarily REVENGE. Life sentences would be sufficient for the US public, while if Rummy et. al. are caught in the EU and tried at the International Criminal Court, found guilty of crimes against humanity and sentenced to DEATH, both would be well served.
In fact that could substantially reduce the number of potential retaliatory attacks from the relatives of the MILLION+ in COLLATERAL DAMAGE from SHOCK & AWESOME ENDURING FREEDOM, down the pike.
Would you rather have foreigners do it overseas Pinochet style, than Wexler and Feingold, REALLY? Starting NOW would make BHO's 1'st 100 days of reversing the 1000+ signing statements and mass firings of Liberty-Regent college appointments run that much smoother.
But if you'd rather wait:

By noraJuly 2, 2008 - 11:38pmIMPEACHMENT?
Revenge is the argument many liberals use against the death penalty.. It makes no sense IMHO to attach the revenge word to impeachment of Bush (and Co.).. They ignored all our intelligence agencies (and told the public the opposite: about mushrooom clouds), then they iniated a war that has nearly a milliion dead (counting Iraquies).. The has been the largest mass murder in history (with the exception of Hitler.. perhaps the bean counters can find another).. To let this pass with no penalty whatsoever, is unthinkable.. It tell the future they can do ANYTHING!!!!!!!! And get away with it.. This is not about revenge, but common sense.. The only argumant I recognize is that impeachment can cost the election (I dont know).. But I do not believe it will cost us the election,.. Rather the hearning should bring to light so many illegal things that surely some needed new laws (for presidents to follow) should be drafted..

RFK Jr. says it best -- at the very minimum, it should be done as a civics lesson, to prove the Constitution has a remedy for such lawbreaking, and that it works. If impeachment is not undertaken, the Constitution loses its power, and when the Constitution is gone, so is America.

BHO's morphing into a BLUE DOG is very likely a result of having surrounded himself with SHRUM types.
The DLC cadre that have seats on the Trilateral Commission who have been sucked into BHO's camp via the vacuume created by the hyena's burst bubble are extremely persuasive. Particularly since they have steamer chests full of GOVT SKELETONS and the cell number of the JACKALS who put them there.
Besides the media is profit center for the MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX, so the closer the contest, the more advertising revenue gets generated. It's a win win, even if BHO looses, he's a MADE MAN and the WAR GOES ON either way!!!!!!!!!!!!

If ours is a nation based on The Constitution and the Rule of Laws rising out of the Constitution, we MUST impeach. Playing politics with the impeachment process is not a valid option!

By noraJuly 2, 2008 - 11:29pmSenate rules
If you didn't listen to the end of hour 3, David's concerned that, should 51 senators want the R's to have the committee chairs, that would happen. And that therefore we should be careful about giving Joe Lieberman an incentive to be the 50th senator to so want, in case that they pull a 51st from somewhere. (A conservative Dem with minimal seniority might make a deal like that to get extra status.
Somebody called in and pointed out that when the R's retook control after Jim Jeffords' defection, they set up chamber rules to the effect that committee chairs won't change every time the majority shifts.
David says, yeah, but as soon as you get a majority shift, the new majority can vote in new chamber rules.
And then he ran out of time.
But aren't chamber rules something that get voted in at the beginning of a session of Congress and then can't change until the next session starts two years later? (Because otherwise, this rule in particular would be pretty dumb.)
I'm apparently not typing the right stuff into my Google, and I'm too lazy to keep trying. Anybody know?

By palepinkJuly 2, 2008 - 11:51pmYanks-Sawx, 4 game series, starting tonight
I'll be at The Stadium tomorrow. Yankee. Doodle. Dandy.
For more on the complexities of being a Yankee or Sox fan, and the strange co-dependence of our relationship, check out the following, written by a Pinstriper:
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/03/sports/baseball/03heller.html
So what I’m wondering, as I immerse myself in this latest series of contests between the Yankees and the Red Sox, is this: Is it possible that a tiny piece of my pinstriped heart beats for the Sox, even as I can’t endure the sight of Josh Beckett, not to mention Tek, Youk, Dicey-K, Nancy Drew and Big Sloppy? Can a Yankee fan actually have a love relationship with the bullies from Boston, our sworn enemies? [snip]
Me? Love the Red Sox? I’d rather stick needles in my eyes. [snip]
I understand now. I don’t love the Red Sox any more than [my friend and Sox fan] Lisa loves the Yankees. It is simply that we are addicted to each other’s team in a totally unhealthy, co-dependent way.

Ok, so If the behavior of one person, offers the right to the other person who is the recipient of the behavior of the first, is allowed to avenge with out consequence, then where it is said or written, that allow us to ask for impeachment when what we are wanting is the same in kind to what the person we are asking for impeachment bestowed upon us.
humm
so I did one better I looked 2 of the popular words that came up in the las few postings, and here is how they are defined: source ctied also; here's what I found,
jus•tice
is rendering to every one that which is his due. It has been distinguished from equity in this respect,
that while justice means merely the doing what positive law demands, equity means the doing what
is fair and right in every separate case.

JUSTICE. Dictionary.com. Easton's 1897 Bible Dictionary. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/JUSTICE (accessed: July 03, 2008)
Justice -
• noun 1 just behaviour or treatment. 2 the quality of being just. 3 the administration of law or some other authority according to the principles of just behaviour and treatment. 4 a judge or magistrate.
— PHRASES bring someone to justice arrest and try someone in court for a crime. do oneself justice perform as well as one is able. do someone/thing justice treat or represent someone or something with due fairness.
— ORIGIN Old French justise "administration of the law", from Latin jus ‘law, right’.
revenge [rəˈvendʒ] verb
(with on) to get (one's) revenge
Example: He revenged himself on his enemies; I'll soon be revenged on you all.
revenge
• noun 1 retaliation for an injury or wrong. 2 the desire to inflict such retaliation.
• verb 1 (revenge oneself or be revenged) inflict revenge for an injury or wrong done to oneself. 2 inflict revenge on behalf of (someone else) or for (a wrong or injury).
— PHRASES revenge is a dish best served (or eaten) cold proverb vengeance is often more satisfying if it is delayed.
— ORIGIN Old French revencher, from Latin vindicare ‘claim, avenge’.
So I am not sure when, where or how these two words became co-joined , WAKE up! the eye for and eye dark age stuff, arn'r we progressive democrats here?

By capn_crustyJuly 3, 2008 - 7:07pmThe Pained Ponies Go Up and Down
I have heard an explanation from ML Reid on AM talk radio in the Bay Area. He says, I know Lieberman. Lieberman is a friend of mine. Lieberman votes with us on most domestic issues; he's just out of step on war.
The reason is, he's part of the illegal underground Israel Lobby. You were wondering why the urgency in removing Saddam and going after Iran. You might figure, why is it that Iraq can barely reach Israel with its missile technology yet is such a threat - then it hit me.
The whole game, our entire foreign policy, is really Israel's. We are stalking horses.
Reed says, I have no plans to remove him next year.
Today, it makes sense. What would happen were they to simply dump him from all committees? He'd become a Republican and there goes the Senate. However, that excuse dissolves next January, I feel quite confident.
His poll numbers are down in Connecticut as well.
Stay tuned.
