Yup, this is the last few-
Tonight I will tell you all what is going on. Thanks for all the support and curiousity. You folks have been essential in stifling a complete meltdown of the show--there's still 3 more. We can only hope.
Democracy Fest this weekend in San Diego. Come on down. Click here.
Here’s the show:
Jean Michel Cousteau, from the PBS Series Ocean Adventures
Ari Berman, The Nation’s Washington guy
Joel McHale, host of E!’s The Soup
Army Lt. Ronnie Rudolph
Jim Earl's Wheel of Anger
And some other stuff I'm unsure of at the moment of this writing

It pales in comparison to the tour de france, which is on now, but it is great fun for me. It's like being a kid again. I've raised my cruising gear one level, so I am getting fitter--and fatter for some reason, like eating too much despite avoiding sausage and moderating beer. :)
Are you fully recovered? (It doesn't compare, but my girlfriend is at about 95% after having broken her ankle in three places in January. The biggest boost in morale was just getting out of the hospital; then getting off crutches; then being able to stand on one foot on the bad foot. Now when she walks, one can hardly tell it was broken. It's so nice to see her back to normal. Tip of the hat to Mr. Kat; tell him I've been there too.)

Just finished listening to last nights show . . . BEST EVER! GD, how can AAR be so stupid as to cancel this show? A reformed Angus McFarquhar? No way. Kent Jones is brilliant. Jim Earl's, "My street" is a masterpiece. Marc and Jim are at their creative best. I'm as MAD as HELL and I'm not gonna take this anymo! You've got to get mad ppl. It's time to raise some hell at AAR for their shortsightedness. Be warned! I'm not gonna be happy if this show isn't resurrected somewhere. For those who didn't get a chance to hear last nights show you can go here [ http://web.mac.com/ofmen/iWeb/Site/Podcast/Podcast.html ] to listen. Please try not to overtax Apple's Dot Mac servers least they cancel my website. Then I'll be SOL also.
PS, the Michael Buble concert was fantastic last night here in Birmingham!!! My God, this guy can sing! He brought the audience into the show with his wit and showmanship. I don't think anyone left the Civic Center disappointed. I know I loved the show. If you've never listened to Michael Buble your really missing out. Hint: Michael's second Cd "Its Time" is his best. Buy it or download from Itunes. I promise you'll fall in love with Michael too.

After all the talk of possibly getting ms back, or working with Sam, the best outcome I can imagine would be keeping tmms just the way it is and finding a better network. The show is constantly improving and would, if given the chance, surpass ms. (it's close now). Syndication isn't a sign of quality (look at franken), many works of genius go unnoticed at first. By keiranJuly 12, 2006 - 2:08pmThis day in history
No real reason, just wanted to share some of this since I got it in email.
Today marks the birthday of Henry David Thoreau (b. 7/12/1817)
“Men talk about Bible miracles because there is no miracle in their lives. Cease to gnaw that crust. There is ripe fruit over your head.”
and the birthday of R Buckminster Fuller (b. 7/11/1895)
“Nature is trying very hard to make us succeed, but nature does not depend on us. We are not the only experiment.”
It is also the birthday of George Eastman (1854), George Washington Carver (1861), Milton Berle (1908) and Bill Cosby (1937)
On this day in 1799 Britain passed the Combination Act, which prevented groups of workers trying to improve working conditions.
On this day in 2002 The Superior Court of Ontario ordered Ontario to recognise same-sex marriages.

Glen was chosen by the Smothers Brothers (Tom) to be their summer replacement on CBS and had some great musical guests.
He did help expose the world to the greats John Hartford and Jimmy Webb.
Clipped stuff...
Originally, he was a Los Angeles session musician, playing on hits by the Monkees, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, and Merle Haggard.
Shortly after arriving in California, Campbell earned the reputation of being an excellent guitarist, playing on records by Bobby Darin and Rick Nelson. In 1960, he briefly joined the instrumental rock & roll group the Champs, who had the hit single "Tequila" two years earlier.
Campbell continued to play professionally, most notably for Elvis Presley and Dean Martin.
...Campbell returned to studio work, and over the next two years he played on sessions by Frank Sinatra ("Strangers in the Night"), Merle Haggard ("The Legend of Bonnie and Clyde"), the Monkees ("I'm a Believer"), the Association, and the Mamas & the Papas, among many others.

Hi Marc (and please say hello to Jim),
It's tragic enough that Air America corporate is pulling the plug (yet again) and that it appears there's nothing loyal listeners like me can do anything about it. Or is there? Please advise. However, your show's podcast for last Friday and Monday aren't working through AAR's so-called premium service. So, I can't even catch up on your programs before the sad, final broadcast. I understand you don't handle this technical aspect of your show and I have already e-mailed AAR about it. I just wanted to add to the bitching I'm sure you're rightfully doing now, and say how much I've enjoyed all the interviews, comedy bits and antagonistic banter between you and Jim. So, where do I send your next farm basket to now, when our crops are ready for harvest?
Please keep us harmless stalkers posted on your next move. All the luck in the world to you, Jim and everyone associated with the show.
Sincerely,
Reformed Jewish American Princess Farmer Gillian

By cnickthomasJuly 12, 2006 - 6:26pmHigh profile terror targets?
Oh my DOG this is hysterical. (It's a 45 page pdf document at the NY Times website and it's a hard read but worth it.)
Among the sites various states listed as potential terror targets are petting zoos, insect zoos, a popcorn factory, one state's right-to-life headquarters, several local festivals, oh gosh it goes on and on!!!!!
It looks like what happened is Homeland Security asked each state for a list, each state turned around and asked cities and towns for a list, and as the lists came back in they were entered into the database without any critical (or even sensible) review. (While it's true most data entry people can enter without reading the data for context, I can't believe not a single one stopped for a moment, say to sneeze, and didn't see something like "the Groundhog Zoo" and think, "Maybe I ought to show this to my boss just in case.....") These people running our poor country are supposed to have good business sense. If this is the kind of shit they teach at those big expensive business schools, I fear for the future of GAAP, too. (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.)

You know.....the one's where he states they are going to get Marc "MORE INVOLVED" in AAR programming as opposed to less or none?
Do you think that was that just bogus temporary spur of the moment ass covering bullshit?

By palomasJuly 13, 2006 - 12:19amSinton came off as honest to me
That he was sincerely interested in making Marc a bigger part of AAR. We'll see if he gets his wish.

Man......I hope you are right. Marc could use something totally different. Like some actual positive input from AAR.
At the same time I'm thinking at this point maybe Marc is so disillusioned with AAR it may be a chapter of his life he just wants to get over with.

By palomasJuly 13, 2006 - 12:29amYup....I was right.
They jacked around and over Marc so much that it got to the point where just common decency and pride took over with Marc. AAR couldn't(or was willing) to step up to the plate.
AAR fucked up.....so FUCK !!!!....AAR. And Danny Golberg.....FUCK your sorry ass too. Your sorry part in this will not be forgotten.

By palomasJuly 13, 2006 - 1:23amDoug and Jon were sincere.
The problem is that what they were capable of offering didn't have a large enough overlap with what the talent needed to make a deal. They don't own AAR.
Sometimes ya' just can't get there from here.

thanks for the reprise of the intro to marc's old website. i was thinking about it the other day and wishing i'd saved it.
also, i'd love at least one more of your reconfigured poems or perhaps, in this case, lyrics. i was thinking of "johnny i hardly knew ya" rewritten for billy, charlie and andy. you wrote some great ones during the demise of ms.
