Saddam Hussein is a No Show

Saddam Hussein boycotted his own trial on Wednesday. His lead counsel told the judge the day before that he would not be attending the proceedings. Defense lawyers spent the morning chatting with the judge about what to do. Saddam has berated the presiding judge and repeatedly said the trial is a U.S.-staged sham. Wednesday's hearing was the fifth session in the trial of Saddam and seven co-defendants accused over the killing of 148 people in Dujail.
