News:
Explosions this morning in Baghdad left at least 56 dead and dozens more wounded. The casualties included those killed in a blast targeting a Shiite mosque, as well at least 15 who died in a suicide attack on the Interior Ministry’s major crimes unit, which had been charged with investigating the ongoing kidnapping and executions of Sunni Arab men. More deaths were reported in the city as a series of roadside bombs, apparently targeting police patrols, were detonated. Also today in Iraq, multinational forces rescued three aid workers—two Canadians and one from the UK—who had been held captive for four months. Earlier this month, the bullet-riddled body of their fourth colleague, American Tom Fox, was found. Despite this bit of good news, it doesn't diminish the fact that thousands of Iraqis and at least 280 foreigners have been held hostage in the country since the U.S. invaded in 2003.

Iraq had a free and open election. They are being trained to provide their own military forces. People are not afraid to speak out about their government without being locked up or killed. Insurgents are hard pressed to start a civil war and it isn't working. These insurgents do not want to see a free Iraq. Making progress? I believe they have. War is not a cake walk. History will decide if this fight was worth the losses.

PROOF ???
Upon discharge from ACTIVE DUTY, a soldier's obligation is 6 years in the "INACTIVE" reserves after being discharged from ACTIVE duty.
You claim you left "ACTIVE DUTY" in '93 ?
That's 13 years ago?? Therefore you can NOT be currently in the "INACTIVE" reserve!!
One can ONLY be in the "ACTIVE" RESERVES after your "INACTIVE" reserve obligation is fullfilled following one's ACTIVE DUTY obligation.
so in other words:
ACTIVE DUTY discharge-----Followed by---- 6 years INactive Reserve!!
Once 6 year INactive reserve duty is fullfilled------
one can ONLY REjoin the ACTIVE reserve or REjoin actual ACTIVE Duty !!!

name-calling is beneath us, so instead of referring to Republicans as "chigger-brained, infidels" or "reverse-geared troglodytes" hiding behind a facade of "moral self-righteousness" and "crusading" for a "neo-inquisition", we should focus on more productive, unembellished, but compelling adjectives.

By AfricaBambaMarch 23, 2006 - 5:06pmBut the state has the right to kill an adult?
See, that's where you righties lose the argument. Over and above the fact that abortion is already LEGAL in this country per the Supreme Court.
But you talk about it being wrong to abort a fetus or embryo, yet capital punishment is AOK with Repubs. Yet you don't even support your own point of view... Take the South Dakota abortion ban... If abortion really is murder, as many on the right suggest, then the penalty in S.D. wouldn't be 5 years for the Doctor performing the abortion, and NO punishment for the mother.
The right's problem (well, one of them, at least) is that it's more important to them to win their argument than to actually be right. Bush is a perfect example. He doesn't care if he's wrong, as long as he wins.
Problem is, a "win" for him and his ilk is invariably a loss for America. And you guys just don't get that.

My current CFO was on the phone with her husband when he was making his way to the roof praying for a roof rescue that never came. We watch the building fall as she was on the phone with him. Watching her faint to the floor crying in pain was enough for me. Animals? We can only hope we kill them all. Because if we don't they will come after us again anyway. The sooner you all see that the better we will be because right now, with the split here at home I believe is what they want to see kill some more americans and then listen to the ignorance that state "Let's pull out and all will be OK" WRONG A nuke? Otherwise you would have heard the term "asynchronous warfare". It is a tactic employed by smaller and lower-resource groups to fight larger and thusly more vulnerable groups.
The difference between it and "guerilla warfare" is that guerilla warfare is only engaged against opponents you know to be INCOMPETENT at a counter-engagement activity.
In other words: attacking civilian targets and using vehicle-bomb tactics are a sign of RESPECT for our military capacity. They purposefully use these kinds of tactics becasue they KNOW that if they tried any sort of open engagement that we would tear them into tiny bite-sized pieces.
