Barack Obama is still overseas playing the role of visiting President and, so far, has successfully thread the needle of pleasing Arabs and Israelis (sort of) at the same time without changing his positions. I can only speak for myself. Having lived most of my life in predominantly white suburbia, I can't say I've known many African-Americans. What I have noticed since I backed Barack Obama in the primaries and now general election, is that my expectation when I do meet persons of color is that we have more in common than not. If this switch in MY thinking is indicative of America as a whole, then I would expect an awakening of sorts of how we can collectively see ourselves: one nation full of many colors.
