I read this about Goss earlier on Center for American Progress, so I suppose that was why he was haunting my mind:

"Yesterday, House leaders announced the names of four former lawmakers who will serve on a new independent panel that reviews ethics complaints against members. The panel's co-chair will be Porter Goss, a former representative who served as President Bush's CIA director before abruptly resigning in May of 2006."

In the meantime I read about Portman, and he'd probably be more helpful to McCain that a lot of the people on his short list. Pawlenty, though, seems to have made a lot of not so brilliant statements relating to the Minn. bridge collapse. He'll be the host at the convention, however, and you know how these insiders get to be VP on the ticket.....even the bionically heartless ones.
